Late May at St. Mary's Glacier found the lake still frozen, people climbing the glacier for
spring skiing and boarding, hikers aplenty and some stark images. Trees, twisted from the winds, some stripped of bark others standing alone gave the
area a most unique feel. Here is a lone sentinel standing guard at water's edge with reminders of boarding runs showing in the dirty snow in the distance.
St. Mary's Glacier is a perennial snowfield located at 11,000 ft just a few miles off I-70 west of Denver. Although not technically a glacier because it
does not flow. Currently, the snow field has not receded in the past years due to northern exposure and recent high snowfall.
