   shavano to tabegauche view
Climbing Mt Shavano, if started early enough, will give you the chance to get to the summit of 2 14ers, the other being Tabeguache Peak. Shavano is 14,229 ft making it the 17th highest peak in Colorado. It is famous for the Angel of Shavano, a snow formation in the image of an angel that emerges on the east face of the mountain durng the snow melt in spring.

Having reached the summit of Mt. Shavano, the issue now was whether to chance the weather - threatening clouds were looming in the distance - and scale Mt. Tabegauche or call it a day and head back down. I took the chance, crossed the saddle and made the summit of Tabegauche - 14,155 ft - as sprinkles started to hit my face - from a sideways direction. No time to enjoy the view. I had to scurry back to Shavano and down the trail in a rain storm - praying I would not be hit by lightning.
