The rocky summit of Mt Evans is the most common, but not the only place to spot some of the many mountain goats who call this place home. Mountain goats are not native to Colorado. The first goats were released in the Mt Evans area in the late 1950s and early 1960s. There are now an estimated 90 to 100 in the region.

When we got there on this early Saturday morning there was a herd of about 10 mountain goats wandering near the summit parking lot. As people started gathering to take pictures, they all scampered to the rocks. Interesting though, many times they seemed to pause - almost as if posing.
