Moffat Tuinnel Curve
destinations - winter park
      moffat tunnel curve
Finished in 1928, the Moffat tunnel connected Denver to the West by cutting under the Continental Divide. The tunnel took six years and $24 million to complete. Patrons of the Denver-Winter Park Ski Train used to be able to enjoy the rail trip from Union Station to Winter Park through the tunnel instead of driving the I-70 corridor and going over Berthoud Pass. Sadly, the Ski Train made its final run to Winter Park on March 29, 2009.

The image was taken from the base of the Winter Park ski resort. This is where the Ski Train would stop - in the morning dropping off skiers who could put on their skis and hit the slopes and then in the afternoon, you could ski right down to the train for boarding. It was the best way to enjoy Winter Park.
