Every hiking season, I climb a previously scaled 14er to check the condition of my
legs and lungs. This year, I intended to do Mt. Bierstadt again but part way up the road to Guanella Pass I discovered construction had closed
the road. I back tracked and headed up I-70 to the trailhead for Grays and Torreys Peaks. I had hiked Grays twice before - once continuing over
to Torreys Peak.
A whole family of mountain goats just watched me - well, actually they watched us since there were a lot of people hiking this day - as
we hiked on by. The image doesn't give a true idea of how steep this part of the mountain is.
