These are hyperlinks you place within the main content of the page. An example is the NAVIGATION or the link I just created to take you to the NAVIGATION PAGE. There is no rule that says links have to be blue and/or underlined but if you are using a white or lightly colored background (unlike ABMALL.NET) there is increasing evidence showing that sticking to the convention will increase your Click Through Rate (CTR).

If and when you use inline linking, make sure your links are sufficiently different from the rest of the page text. There is nothing worse than trying to click on a link that really isn't a link!

There are different schools of thought on the effectiveness of inline links, both from a search engine optimization/algorithm standpoint and also from a readability standpoint. The best inline links are call to action ones that take the reader to something productive during the moment they are thinking about it. Weigh the purpose of the link. Is it for conversions or just more information?
